A film leader is a strip of film that is attached to the beginning or end of a reel of movie film. It contains information such as the title, production company, and reel number. The film leader is used to cue projectionists when to start and stop the film, and to identify the content of the reel. It can also be used as a placeholder for blank film or to add special effects.
